Go Tell It……..

Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere;
Go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born.

Advent and Christmas are approaching and again at Caswell Springs United Methodist Church we are preparing the way for the celebration of this Holy Season. We do so knowing that Advent is the season of four weeks, including Sundays, leading up to Christmas. Advent comes from the Latin adventus which means “coming.” Therefore, “the season proclaims the comings of the Christ – whose birth we prepare to celebrate once again, who comes continually in Word and Spirit, and whose return in final victory we anticipate.” (The United Methodist Book of Worship)

This Advent and Christmas we will celebrate by going and telling of the season. The First Sunday of Advent is December 3. On that Sunday we will worship together with one service at 10:50. This service will feature the Symbols of the Season and Hanging of the Greens. Prior to the service, we will share in a time of fellowship brunch.

On December 10, we celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent, as we Prepare the Way. This Sunday will feature John the Baptist and his prophetic telling of the coming of the Messiah. The Third Sunday of Advent is December 17, where we encounter Angelic Announcements. This Sunday will feature the Angelic Messenger and his telling of the coming of Jesus.

The Fourth Sunday of Advent is on December 24. This Sunday will also have one service at a special time of 10:00. Worship will be led by the Sanctuary Choir and their celebration of Noel. That evening, we will gather on Christmas Eve at 5:00 and 7:00 for our Candlelight Communion Service.

Other important events during this season include the performance by the Drama Team of Everyone’s Christmas Story on Friday, December 8 at 7:30 and Sunday, December 10 at 6:00. Cookies N’ Christmas will be on Sunday, December 17 at 6:00 and will feature the Children’s Program and a performance by Merciful Movement.

I look forward to seeing you as we celebrate this Holy Season at Caswell Springs.
