Sunday School is an excellent setting for in-depth study of God's word while providing an effective opportunity for Christian growth. We offer a variety of formats so that you can find a comfortable environment that’s right for you.
Buddy Scarbrough Fellowship Class
Named in honor of Mr. Donald E. “Buddy” Scarbrough – a beloved and honored member of CSUMC – this is an instructor-led Bible study class whose members are 55 and up. The topics for this class rotate quarterly between the Old and New Testament. The members enjoy quarterly socials and participate in many outreach activities. This class is instructed by Mrs. Jean Goff.
Aunt Rhoda’s Class
Led by Don Wierson, this class follows the New International Version Bible study series. While the series provides topics and guidelines for this class, the format is primarily group discussion. The members share life experiences and discuss current issues as they relate to leading a Christ-centered life.
Bible Truths Class
The Bible Truths Class is taught by Mr. Ron Bowerman. The lessons are drawn directly from the Bible text and supported by other resources such as the works of John MacArthur. While primarily comprised of Senior Adults, this class is open to adults of all ages.
The Merry Methodists group is comprised of people 50 and older who enjoy getting together in Christian fellowship! This social group plans periodic events such as cookouts, potluck suppers, and luncheons. They also host lunch and learn sessions with guest speakers who discuss topics relative to Senior Citizens such as retirement, financial planning, and healthy living. They coordinate an annual fundraiser to raise money for a generous scholarship awarded to a graduating high school senior.
As the name implies, this group of ladies is always on the go. They enjoy dining out, shopping, and enjoying each other's company in Christian friendship. There's never a dull moment with this group!
