Music and Worship Arts
Caswell Springs UMC is filled with gifted people who use their gifts for Christ's church in worship. We pray that one of the groups below will allow you to find a way to serve God through the gifts that you've been given. Please contact Daniel Banke at the church office if you would like more information about one of these groups, especially if you are interested in joining our team of worship artists!
The Sanctuary Choir serves as the primary musical leadership at our 10:50 service on Sunday mornings, and also sings for additional services throughout the year. The choir sings a wide variety of traditional choral music, while also engaging the congregation in songs of faith that reflect newer styles of musical expression. Weekly rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 7:20 to 8:35.
Grace Notes is made up of youth who love to praise God through singing. They provide the primary musical leadership for our youth-led worship services, and also sing on Sunday mornings throughout the year. Our youth are encouraged to choose the music that they sing, based on frequent conversations about scripture and music's place in worship. All youth in middle school and high school are invited to participate. Weekly rehearsals are held on Wednesdays at 6:00.
Our children's choir program is a great way for kids to learn about Christ through music, dance, and drama. We offer unique opportunities for all age groups, each with a slightly different purpose. The Rejoice Choir (grades 4-6) focuses mainly on singing and worship leadership. The Sonshine Choir (grades 1-3) spreads the light of the Son to all they meet through singing, playing instruments, and dance. The Joyful Noise experience (preschool/kindergarten) is a fun way for children to learn the basics of music and movement. All children are encouraged to participate in this ministry on Wednesday afternoons at the following times: Rejoice Choir (5:00-5:30), Sonshine Choir (5:30-6:00), Joyful Noise! (6:30-7:15).
Our Merciful Movement dance ministry exists to worship and praise the Lord through the art of dance. Girls in grades 6-12 are invited to join us on Wednesday nights from 7:20-8:00. They will enjoy a fun atmosphere filled with exciting opportunities as they learn how to effectively minister to others through the power of dance. Please contact Kim Garner for more details.
Let them praise his name in the dance. (Psalm 149:3)
Acts of Faith
Our Acts of Faith puppet ministry has recently expanded to include many types of creative movement. Children in grades 4-6, along with any youth who wish to participate, are invited to grab a puppet and participate in various dramas and parody songs. This fun ministry group meets at 5:30 on Wednesdays during the school year, and is led by Nellie Pierce.
One of the most exciting parts of our music ministry is an annual week-long music camp, held during mid-July. The week culminates in the performance of a musical on Friday night. Children ages 8-12 - and who have a love for music and drama - are encouraged to participate. Look for registration information in early spring.
